Childrens Rights on Thier Father in Islam The children’s rights

ALLAH has given children rights over their parents just as the parents have rights over their children.

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “ALLAH has called them abraar (righteous) because they honoured (barru) their fathers and children. Just as your father has rights over you, so too your child has rights over you.
Al-Adab al-Mufrad, 94.

The Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said, according to a hadeeth narrated by ‘Abd-ALLAH ibn ‘Umar, “… and your child has rights over you.”
Muslim, 1159.

The child’s rights over their children include some that come even before the child is born, for example:

1 – Choosing a righteous wife to be a righteous mother.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may ALLAH be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “A woman may be married for four reasons: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty and her religious commitment. Marry the one who is religiously committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may you prosper).”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4802; Muslim, 1466).

Shaykh ‘Abd al-Ghani al-Dahlawi said: Choose from among women those who are religiously committed and righteous, and who are of good descent, for if a woman is of illegitimate descent, this bad characteristic may be passed to her children. ALLAH says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The adulterer — fornicator marries not but an adulteress — fornicatress or a Mushrikah; and the adulteress –fornicatress, none marries her except an adulterer — fornicater or a Mushrik”
[al-Noor 24:3]

Rather Islam recommends compatibility for the purpose of harmony and to avoid a person being shamed if he marries into a family that is not compatible.

Sharh Sunan Ibn Maajah, 1/141

Rights after the child is born:

1 – It is Sunnah to do tahneek for the child when he is born:

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik (may ALLAH be pleased with him) said: The son of Abu Talhah was sick. Abu Talhah went out and the child died, and when Abu Talhah returned he said, “What happened to my son?” Umm Sulaym (his wife) said, ‘He is quieter than he was.” Then she brought him his dinner and he ate, then he had marital relations with her, and when he finished she said, “They buried the child.” The following morning, Abu Talhah went to the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) and told him what had happened. He said, “Did you have marital relations last night?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “O ALLAH, bless them.” She later gave birth to a boy. Abu Talhah said to me, “Keep him until I bring him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him).” He brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) and I sent some dates with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) took him and said, “Is there anything with him?” They said, “Yes, some dates.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) took some and chewed it, then he took some from his mouth and put it in the child’s mouth (tahneek), and named him ‘Abd-ALLAH.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5153; Muslim, 2144

Al-Nawawi said:

The scholars are agreed that it is mustahabb to do tahneek with dates for the child when he is born; if that is not possible then to use some similar kind of sweet. The dates should be chewed until they become soft enough to be swallowed, then the child’s mouth should be opened and a little of the dates put in his mouth.
Sharh al-Nawawi ‘ala Muslim, 14/122-123

2 – The child should be given a good name, such as ‘Abd-ALLAH or ‘Abd al-Rahmaan.

It was narrated from Naafi’ that Ibn ‘Umar said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most beloved of your names to ALLAH are ‘Abd-ALLAH and ‘Abd al-Rahmaan.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 2132)

It is mustahabb to give the child a Prophet’s name:

It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik said: The Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “A child was born to me last night and I called him by the name of my father Ibraaheem.”
Narrated by Muslim, 2315

It is mustahabb to name the child on the seventh day, but there is nothing wrong with naming him on the day of his birth, because of the hadeeth quoted above.

It was narrated from Samurah ibn Jundub that the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “Every child is in pledge for his ‘aqeeqah which should be slaughtered for him on the seventh day, his head should be shaved and he should be named.
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2838;

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

The purpose of naming is to define the thing named, because if there is something whose name is unknown it is difficult to refer to it. So it is permissible to name him (the child) on the day he is born, and it is permissible to delay the naming until the third day, or until the day of the ‘aqeeqah, or before or after that. The matter is broad in scope.”
Tuhfat al-Mawlood, p. 111

3 – It is Sunnah to shave the child’s head on the seventh day and to give the weight of the hair in silver in charity.

It was narrated that ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib said: The Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) slaughtered a sheep as the ‘aqeeqah for al-Hasan, and he said, “O Faatimah, shave his head and give the weight of his hair in silver in charity.” So she weighed it and its weight was a dirham or part of a dirham.
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1519; classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1226.

4 – It is mustahabb for the father to do the ‘aqeeqah, as stated in the hadeeth quoted above, “Every child is in pledge for his ‘aqeeqah.”

Two sheep should be sacrificed for a boy and one for a girl.

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) commanded them (to sacrifice) two similar sheep for a boy and one for a girl.
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1513; Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1221; Abu Dawood, 2834; al-Nasaa’i, 4212; Ibn Maajah, 3163

5 – Circumcision

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “The fitrah is five things, or five things are part of the fitrah: circumcision, shaving the pubic hairs, plucking the armpit hairs, clipping the nails and trimming the moustache.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5550; Muslim, 257

The child’s rights with regard to education and upbringing:

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah (may ALLAH be pleased with him) that the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “Each of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The ruler who is in charge of people is a shepherd and is responsible for them. The man is the shepherd of his household and is responsible for them. The woman is the shepherd of her husband’s house and child and is responsible for them. The slave is the shepherd of his master’s wealth and is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2416; Muslim, 1829.

So parents must take care of teaching their children the duties of Islam and other virtues that are recommended in sharee’ah, and worldly matters that they need in order to live a decent life in this world.

The man should start by teaching them the most important things, then the next most important. So he starts by teaching them correct ‘aqeedah, free from shirk and bid’ah. Then he teaches them the acts of worship, especially prayer. Then he teaches them and trains them in good manners and characteristics, and everything that is good.

ALLAH says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And (remember) when Luqmaan said to his son when he was advising him: “O my son! Join not in worship others with ALLAH. Verily, joining others in worship with ALLAH is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed”
[Luqmaan 31:13]

It was narrated from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn al-Rabee’ ibn Sabrah from his father that his grandfather said: The Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) said: “Teach the child to pray when he is seven years old, and smack him if he does not pray when he is ten.”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 407; Abu Dawood, 494. Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 4025

It was narrated that al-Rubayyi’ bint Mu’awwidh said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) sent word on the morning of Ashoora’ to the areas where the Ansaar lived (on the outskirts of Madeenah), saying: Whoever did not fast this morning, let him not eat for the rest of the day, and whoever started fasting this morning, let him complete his fast. She said: We used to observe this fast after that, and we used to make our children fast and make them toys of wool; if one of them cried for food we would give him that toy until it was time to break the fast.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1859; Muslim, 1136

It was narrated that al-Saa’ib ibn Yazeed said: I was taken for Hajj with the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) when I was seven years old.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1759

Training in good manners and characteristics:

Every father and mother should train their children in praiseworthy characteristics and good manners, whether towards ALLAH, His Prophet the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH “O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from ALLAH, but do that which they are commanded”
[al-Tahreem 66:6]

al-Qurtubi said:
al-Hasan commented on this verse by saying, Command them and forbid them. One of the scholars said: (The phrase) Ward off (or protect) yourselves includes children, because the child is part of him, as it says in the verse (interpretation of the meaning): “…nor on yourselves, if you eat from your houses…” [al-Noor 24:61], where the various relatives are not mentioned individually. So he should teach him what is halaal and what is haraam, and make him avoid sin, and teach him other rulings.
Tafseer al-Qurtubi, 18/194-195.

Spending:

This is one of the father’s obligations towards his children; it is not permissible for him to fall short in that or to neglect this matter, rather he is obliged to do this duty in the fullest sense.
It was narrated that ‘Abd-ALLAH ibn ‘Amr (may ALLAH have the child a good upbringing and take good care of him or her – especially in the case of girls. The Messenger of ALLAH(peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) encouraged this righteous deed.

It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah the wife of the Prophet (S) said: A woman came to me with two daughters and asked me for food, and I could not find anything except one date which I gave to her. She shared it between her two daughters, then she got up and went out. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came in and I told him what had happened. He said: “Whoever is in charge of any of these girls and treats them well, they will be a shield for him against the Fire.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5649; Muslim, 2629

Another important matter which is one of the rights of children to which attention must be paid, is treating children fairly. This right was referred to by the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) in the saheeh hadeeth: “Fear ALLAH and treat your children fairly.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2447; Muslim, 1623).

It is not permissible to show preference to females over males, just as it is not permissible to show preference to males over females. If the father makes this mistake and shows preference to some of his children over others, and does not treat them fairly, this will lead to many evils, such as:
The harm that befalls the father himself, for the children whom he denies or deprives will grow up to hate him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) referred to this in the hadeeth narrated by Muslim (1623) when he said to the father of al-Nu’maan, “Would you like them to honour you equally?” He said, “Yes.” In other words, if you want them all to honour you equally, then be fair in giving gifts to them.

The Rights of Muslims

Overlook the faults of a Muslim.

When he cries, have mercy on him.

Conceal his shortcomings.

Accept his excuses.

Remove his difficulties.

Always be good to him.

Gaining his love is an accomplishment.

Fulfil his promises.

When he falls ill, visit him.

When he passes away, make dua for him.

Accept his invitation.

Accept his gifts.

When he shows kindness to you, show kindness to him in return.

Be grateful for his favours upon you.

Help and assist him at the time of need.

Safeguard his family and children.

Assist him in his work.

Listen to his advice.

Accept his intercession.

Do not make him feel despondent over his ambitions.

When he sneezes and says "Alhamdulillah", say "Yarhamukallah" in reply.

If you find a lost item of his, return it to him.

Reply to his greeting.

When you converse with him, speak with humility and in a good manner.

Be kind and friendly to him.

When he takes an oath with regard to you, confident that you will fulfil it, then you must fulfil it. (For example, Zayd takes an oath that Amr never goes to the bazaar and he is confident that Amr will fulfil this oath of his, then Amr must ensure that he does not act contrary to it.)

If anyone oppresses him, go to his assistance. If he oppresses someone, prevent him.

Be friendly to him and do not antagonize him.

1: Do not disgrace him.

2: Whatever you like for yourself, like for him as well.

3: When you meet him, make salam to him. If a man shakes the hand of a man, and a woman shakes the hand of a woman, it will be even better.

4: If a quarrel takes place between the two of you, do not cut-off speaking to him for more than three days.

5: Do not have evil thoughts of him.

6: Do not be jealous of him nor should you hate him.

7: Direct him towards good deeds and stop him from evil deeds.

8: Have mercy on the young and respect the elderly.

9: If there is a conflict between two Muslims, try and reconcile them.

10: Do not speak ill of him.

11: Do not cause him any loss; neither in his wealth nor in his honour.

12: If he is sitting, do not make him get up and take his place.

The Rights of Children in Islam

Let us first establish that children in accordance with the Islamic concept means both male and female. Some Islamic opponents accuse Islam of differentiating between male and female children claiming that Islam prefers boys over girls in terms of inheritance, 'Aqeeqa (slaughter of two lambs upon the birth of a male baby, and one lamb only for a baby girl) and other matters. In accordance with the true Islamic teaching, both male and female are alike in the sight of Allah, the Almighty. Each, however, is physically prepared and equipped to perform certain tasks and duties that are suitable to his/her nature. All, again are equal in religious duties, except for certain exceptions that are defined and illustrated by Allah, the Almighty, in the Glorious Quran, or declared and specified by Allah’s Apostle, PBUH. Only these differences are to be acknowledged and honored and only in accordance with Islam and its teachings.

Children, according to Islam, are entitled to various rights. The first and foremost of these rights is the right to be properly brought up, raised and educated. This means that children should be given suitable, sufficient, sound and adequate religious, ethical and moral guidance to last them for their entire lives. They should be engraved with true values, the meaning of right and wrong, true and false, correct and incorrect, appropriate and inappropriate and so forth and so on. Allah, the Almighty stated in the Glorious Qur’an:
"O ye who believe! Save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones." (66:6)
Allah’s Apostle, PBUH also said: "Every one of you (people) is a shepherd. And every one is responsible for whatever falls under his responsibility. A man is like a shepherd of his own family, and he is responsible for them." This Hadith is reported by both Bukhari and Muslim.

Children, therefore are a trust given to the parents. Parents will be responsible for this trust on the Day of Judgement. Parents are essentially responsible for the moral, ethical and the basic and essential religious teachings of their children.

If parents fulfill this responsibility, they will be free of the consequences on the Day of Judgement. The children will become better citizens and a pleasure to the eyes of their parents, first in this life, and in the hereafter.

Allah, the Almighty stated in the Glorious Quran:

"And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds." (52:21)

Moreover, Allah's Apostle, PBUH said: "Upon death, man's deeds will (definitely) stop except for three deeds, namely: a continuous charitable fund, endowment or goodwill; knowledge left for people to benefit from; and pious righteous and God-fearing child who continuously prays Allah, the Almighty, for the soul of his parents." This Hadith is reported by Muslim.

In fact, such a statement reflects the value of the proper upbringing of children. It has an everlasting effect, even after death.

Unfortunately, many parents from every walk of life, in every society, regardless of creed, origin, social and economical status, etc., have neglected this very important imposed right of their own children on them. Such individuals have indeed lost their children as a result of their own negligence. Such parents are so careless about the time their children spend with no benefit, the friends they associate with, the places they go to, etc. Such parents do not care, are totally indifferent about where their children go, when they come back and so forth and so on, causing the children to grow up without any responsible adult and without caring supervision. Such parents neglect even to instruct, direct or guide their children to the proper way of life, behaviour or even right attitudes towards others. Yet, you may find these parents are so careful about guarding their wealth. They are extremely concerned about their businesses, work and otherwise. They exert every possible effort to lead a very successful life in terms of materialistic gains, although all this wealth is not actually theirs. No one will take wealth to the grave.

Children are not only to be well-fed, well-groomed, properly dressed for the weather and for appearance, well-taken care of in terms of housing and utilities. It is more important to offer the child comparable care in terms of educational, religious training, and spiritual guidance. The heart of a child must be filled with faith. A child’s mind must be entertained with proper guidance, knowledge and wisdom. Clothes, food, housing, schooling are not, by any means, an indication of proper care of the child. Proper education and guidance is far more important to a child than this food, grooming and appearance.

One of the due rights of children upon their parents is their spending for their welfare and well-being moderately. Over-spending or negligence is not condoned, accepted or even tolerated in Islam. Such ways will have a negative effect on the child regardless of the social status. Men are urged not to be miserly to their children and households, who are their natural heirs in every religion and society. Why would one be miserly to those who are going to inherit his wealth? Children are entitled to such an important right. They are even permitted to take moderately from their parent's wealth to sustain themselves if the parent declines to give them proper funds for their living.

Children also have the right to be treated equally in terms of financial gifts. No one should be preferred over the others. All must be treated fairly and equally. None should be deprived his gift from the parents. Depriving, or banning the right of inheritance, or other financial gifts during the lifetime of the parents or the preference of a parent for one child over the other is considered according to Islam as an act of injustice. Injustice will definitely lead to an atmosphere of hatred, anger and dismay amongst the children in a household. In fact, such an act of injustice may, most likely, lead to animosity amongst the children, and consequently, this will affect the entire family environment. In certain cases a special child may show a tender care for his aging parent, for instance, causing the parent to grant such a child a special gift, or issue him the ownership of a house, a factory, a land, a farm, a car, or any other valuable items. Islam, however considers such a financial reward to such a caring, loving and perhaps obedient child, a wrong act. A caring child is entitled only to a reward from Allah, the Almighty. Although it is nice to grant such a child something in appreciation for his dedication and special efforts, this must not lead to an act of disobedience to Allah, the Almighty. It may be that the heart and feelings of such a loving and caring child may change, at one point in time, causing him to become a nasty and harmful child. By the same token, a nasty child may change, at any given time, as well, to become a very caring and kind child to the same parent. The hearts and feelings are, as we all know, in the hands of Allah, the Almighty, and can be turned in any direction at any given time and without any previous notice. This, indeed, is one of the reasons for preventing the act of financial preference of a child over another. On the other hand, there is also no assurance or guarantee that a caring child can handle the financial gift of his parent wisely.

It is narrated by Abu Bakr, RAA, who said that Allah's Apostle, PBUH, was approached by one of his companions, al-N'uman bin Basheer, who said: "O Prophet of Allah! I have granted a servant to one of my children (asking him to testify to that gift)." But Allah's PBUH asked him: "Did you grant the same to each and every child of yours?" When Allah's Apostle, PBUH was informed negatively about that, he said: "Fear Allah, the Almighty, and be fair and just to all your children. Seek the testimony of another person, other than me. I will not testify to an act of injustice." This Hadith is reported by both Bukhari and Muslim. Thus, Allah's Apostle, PBUH called such an act of preference of one child over the others an act of "injustice." Injustice is prohibited and forbidden in Islam.

But, if a parent granted one of his children financial help to fulfill a necessity, such as a medical treatment coverage, the cost of a marriage, the cost of initializing a business, etc., then such a grant would not be categorized an act of injustice and unfairness. Such a gift will fall under the right to spend in the essential needs of the children, which is a requirement that a parent must fulfill.

Islam sees that if parents fulfill their duties towards all their children in terms of providing them with necessary training, educational backing, moral, ethical and religious education, this will definitely lead to a more caring child, a better family atmosphere and a better social environment and awareness. On the other hand, any negligence in those parental duties can lead to the loss of a child or ill treatment of the parents at a later age.

The Types of Halal and Haram Ingredients

HALAL : Halal an Arabic word means lawful. Muslims all over the world are required to eat only Halal foods (foods allowed to eat according to Islamic dietary laws) made from Halal ingredients (only those law full food ingredients allowed under Islamic dietary laws). The Islamic dietary laws are based on Quranic (Holy book for Muslims) teachings and sayings of Prophet Mohammed Sallallahu alaihi wasallum (called Sunnah) and are based according Islamic Sharia (Islamic laws). The Halal ingredients are from grain, plant, chemical, synthetic (Halal), Dairy (if Halal enzymes and Halal culture media are used), egg products, fish and Zabiha meat sources.

1:Grain/Plant based ingredients:
Baker's yeast, Baker's yeast extract, Beta Carotene (if vegetable oil is used as a carrier that is not gelatin), Microbial rennet, Chocolate liquor, Glycerin (plant and Halal synthetic source), Torula yeast (if grown on sugar cane not on liquor) and All purpose soy sauce.

MUSH- BOOH: Mushbooh is an Arabic word for doubtful things. Muslims are required to stay away from doubtful things. Food products and food ingredients whose sources are not known whether they are made from Halal or Haram source fall under this category.

1:Yeast Extract from brewer's yeast (some Islamic scholars considered it Halal but to other think it is a Mush-booh ingredient).

2:Cochineal/Carmine color (Islamic scholars in UK and South Africa considered it Haram but others do not considered it Haram).

FOOD FLAVORS:The food flavor of a food substance is the combined sensation of the taste and odor as perceived by the eater or drinker of that substance. The food flavorings are available to the food industry producer as solids, liquids, and paste. The food flavoring is man made and they are compounded from natural and/or synthetic aromatic substances which may or not be found in nature. Flavors may be a mixture of any flavors or flavoring ingredients such as

Process Flavors,
Hydrolysates,
Fat Flavors,
Autolysates,
Enzyme Modified Flavor with addition of carriers,
antioxidants,
solvents and
flavor enhancers.

The impact of natural flavors on Halal food products can be best described in McDonald's French Fries and Hash Browns. The raw French fries and hash brown are made with Natural flavor as indicated on their ingredients list. But no body know except the suppliers and McDonald that the natural flavor is made of Non-Zabiha beef extract.

Muslims should be very care full of following flavors in meat cheese related products such as meat Loaf seasoning, gravies and process cheese products.

1:Meat, Savory Flavors and Extracts:
The McDonald raw French fries and Hash Brown are made with a food flavor containing Non-Zabiha beef extract.

2:Dairy Flavors containing animal enzymes.

3:Alcohol as an ingredient and Carrier in flavors

ALCOHOL AND FERMENTED FOOD PRODUCTS: Alcohol is widely used as a carrier in many food flavors. Alcohol in food flavors will mostly evaporate if it is used as a solvent in food flavors for baked products or heat treated products. Some Islamic scholars do not consider a food product Halal even if it is made with all Halal ingredients but food flavor in which ethyl alcohol was used as a solvent. But other Islamic scholars recommend food products made with all Halal ingredients even if food flavors containing ethyl alcohol as a solvent.

You have to contact your Islamic scholars about their advise.
Muslim Consumer Group will not assign Halal status to food products which are even made with all ingredients but where ethyl alcohol was used in food flavors as a solvent.

MAJOR TYPE OF FERMENTED MILK PRODUCTS:

Type                                                             Nature Of Fermentation
Kefir                                                                  Acid and Alcohol
Koumiss                                                            Acid and Alcohol
Yogurt                                                                  Medium Acid
Cultured Buttermilk                                                 Low Acid
Cultured Buttermilk                                                 Low Acid
Leben & Dahi                                               Medium Acid
Cheese                                                            Acid, Diacetyle, Propionic Acid & CO2

Pickles from cucumber and sauerkraut from cabbage are made by salting (brining). No alcohol is produced during the processing of these products. However, when flavors are added, those flavors may or may not contain alcohol as a carrier.

NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Most of non alcoholic beverages are made from alcoholic beverages where alcohol is separated by use of cones or other method but they contain leftover alcohol, the flavor and color of the alcoholic beverages. A wine or alcoholic beverage consists of 6-12% alcohol, water, flavors obtained through fermentation process, colors. Every single component of wine or alcoholic beverages are Haram, so if they present in a non alcoholic beverages then the non alcoholic beverages became Haram too.

Cultured lipolyzed Cream: is considered Halal if the culture media, which is used to grow cultures is made from Halal ingredients. The use of microbial Lipase enzyme is the second requirement for cultured lipolyzed cream to be considered Halal.
Cultured Lipolyzed Cream is made with use of cultures and Lipase enzyme.
Lipase enzyme is used to split milk fat into free fatty acids eventually leading to methyl ketones, lactones and other volatile compounds for flavor.
Gelatin is a derived water soluble protein made by controlled hydrolytic conversion of collagen, the protein constituent of white fibrous connective tissue from animals.

Gelatin is obtained from one of the following:
 Beef bones and calf skin (Gelatin type B) or
 Skin, hide splits and trimming of pork (Gelatin type A)
 Gelatin is also obtained from fish. The fish gelatin is started coming to markets in 1993 (Muslim Consumer Group reported in one of Chicago Muslim news paper in 1993). It is expensive than pork and beef and also provide little unpleasant smell to the food products.
Fish gelatin is used in Procter & Gamble's Sunny Delight fruit drinks. It is combined with Beta carotene a plant based color as a processing aid ingredient (not reported under the ingredients list) to help disperse the Beta carotene in liquid system. Fish gelatin was also used by Saputo Cheese Company under Stella, Frigo, Lorraine and Dragone brands for low fat and reduced fat cheeses. The Fish gelatin meets the Islamic dietary requirements and is considered as a Halal ingredient.
Majority of Muslims do not purchase food products containing gelatin but a minority of Muslims consume food products made from Non-Zabiha beef gelatin. If these products are not under kosher certification, the manufacturer can change the source of gelatin from Non-Zabiha to pork.
There is a big confusion about Kosher Gelatin which is now used very extensively in yogurts, sour Cream, Cottage cheese and Ice Cream.

There are four type of kosher gelatin in the food products but none of them meet the Islamic dietary requirements and considered NOT Halal.

Different kosher certifying organizations have different beliefs.
For example kosher organization with symbols

1:OU, CRC, V, Kof K do not consider pork gelatin as a kosher gelatin

2:K, KO accept pork gelatin as a kosher product.

So the statements such as "Gelatin is considered Kosher regardless of its source of origin", which appears in many Halal foods books is not true.

1:Gelatin in Jell-o Gelatin products is made from pork and considered kosher by a Rabbi who certify these products with a kosher symbol K. These products are Haram (NOT HALAL).

2:Kosher gelatin is also obtained from non kosher slaughtered cattle bones and skin in China, which is certified by a Rabbi in Florida. This gelatin is used in majority of Dannon Yogurts( Dannon's Premium Low Fat Plain, Premium Non Fat Plain and Natural Plain with UD kosher symbol do not contain any gelatin and considered as Halal products) and other brand of yogurts.

3:Kosher gelatin is also made from pork source and listed as kosher gelatin in some products with kosher symbol KO. These products are Haram (NOT HALAL).

4:The Union of Orthodex Jewish Congregation of America certifies a Kosher gelatin, which is made from cattle. These cattle are slaughtered according Jewish laws by a Sochet (A Rabbi). This kosher gelatin is used in Entenmann's Frosted Toaster Pastries with kosher symbol UD. Many Islamic Scholars do not accept kosher meat as the meat of Ahle-Kitab because Sochet (Rabbi) do not announce the name of Allah and other prayers on each animals.

Only fish gelatin and gelatin made from the bones and skins of Halal animals slaughtered according to Islamic Sharia is considered Halal.

5:Kosher Symbols: Allah says in Quran
"This day are (all) things are good and pure made lawful unto you. The Food of the people of the books is lawful to you and yours is lawful unto them" (Sura 5, Ayat 5).
If an authentic and genuine non meat kosher certified food products bearing kosher symbols such as OU, K. CRC, V, Kuf K, KVH, COR and Parve meet the Islamic dietary requirements, then those products are considered Halal.
However if they contain gelatin, kosher gelatin, wine, alcohol, L-cysteine from human hair, wine vinegar, rum flavor, beer batter then they are considered to be NOT Halal food products.
For example if a food product contains gelatin or Kosher gelatin and also bears kosher symbol, then it will not be considered Halal.
We do not recommend Kosher meat for Muslims because they do not announce Allah's name on each animal. Majority of Muslims do not consider it Halal. Besides, the Zabiha meat is accessible to Muslims in USA and Canada.

PLEASE DONOT USE THE KOSHER CERTIFIED FOOD PRODUCTS IF THEY CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING INGREDIENTS: 1) Gelatin (2) Kosher Gelatin (3) L-Cysteine made from human hair (4) Wine (5) Liquor (6) Beer batter (7) Rum flavor (8) Ethyl Alcohol as a main ingredient appears on the ingredient list (9) Cochineal or Carmine, a red color from insects (10) Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce (11) Yeast Extract or Autolyzed Yeast made from brewers yeast, a by product of beer making (12) Torula Yeast grown on alcohol (13) Nucleotides (building block of nucleic acid) are obtained from yeast cells grown on alcohol, used in Infant Milk formulas to help babies build a good immune, digestive system and decreased incident of diarrhea (14) Vanilla Extract (15) Wine Vinegar (16) Ethyl alcohol is used as a solvent in natural and artificial flavors.
i. Gelatin (Jell -o Gelatin products)
ii. Kosher Gelatin (from cow not slaughtered according Jewish slaughtering methods such as kosher gelatin in Dannon yogurts)
iii. Kosher Gelatin (from cows slaughtered according to Jewish method of slaughtered in which they pronounce name of Allah on the first cow and last cow, no pronouncement of Allah's name between first and last cows such as kosher gelatin in Entenmann's Frosted Toaster Pastries)
iv. Wine (Grey Poupon Mustard)

v. Alcohol
vi. Alcohol in Flavor ( Some Islamic scholars accept it as Halal and some do not, please consult your Islamic scholar)
vii. L-Cysteine from human Hair
Cochineal (Insect red color, all insect except gross hopper are Haram according to Hanafi fiqha)
viii. Naturally Brewed Soya Sauce (Soya sauce made with wheat and soy is Haram because the production of alcohol in its production and retention of 1-2% alcohol in soya sauce, Soya sauce made with water, Salt, Hydrolyzed vegetable Protein, Corn Syrup and Sodium Benzoate is Halal, it is also called All purpose Soya sauce)

ix. Brewer's Yeast Extract ( some Islamic scholars accept it as Halal and some considered it mushbooh because it is by-product of beer making, please consult with your Islamic scholar)
x. Beta Carotene (made with gelatin, if fish gelatin or vegetable oil is used then it is Halal)

Lipolyzed Butterfat: The use of microbial Lipase enzyme is the requirement for lipolyzed butterfat to be considered Halal. Lipolyzed butterfat is made by use of Lipase enzyme to break butter fat to provide flavor.
L-Cysteine is a non essential amino acid used in bakery products as dough conditioner. It helps keep the dough from shrinking in case of pizza crust and pita breads. It is also used in bagels. It also reduced mixing time. L-Cysteine is made from either.

* human hair,

* chicken feathers and

* synthetic material.

L-Cysteine from Halal synthetic material is Halal certified by Majelis Ulema of Indonesia and sale by Ajinomoto USA. BagelEz is a dough conditioner from Caravan Company of New Jersey. They used Halal certified L-Cysteine.
According to Islamic Scholars the L-Cysteine made from human hairs is considered as a Haram product.

YEAST EXTRACT OR AUTOLYZED YEAST
Yeast is a single celled plant that has been useful to mankind since pre-historic times. There are numerous applications of yeast in the food industry
Baker's Yeast: Halal
The role of baker yeast in baking industry is to leaven bread and related products. Baker's Yeast is a Halal yeast.
Brewer's Yeast:
This type of yeast is used in fermenting sugar in malt to produce alcohol and carbon dioxide in beer making.
Wine Yeast:
This yeast is used in making wine.
Alcohol Yeast :
Yeast is used in production of alcohol.
Torula Yeast:
Torula Yeast grows on sulfite waste and sulfite liquors. It is also grown on sugar cane. Torula yeast grown on sulphite liquor containing alcohol is not recommended for Muslims.

If it is grown on sugar cane then it is considered Halal.

Autolyzed Yeast Extracts or Yeast Extracts:
Autolyzed yeast extracts are available as a powder derived from Baker's Yeast or Brewer's Yeast. After brewing the beer, the brewer yeast is separated from the beer and subjected to self digestion, the hydrolysis of yeast cell protein by the proteolytic enzymes indigenous to yeast cell.
Brewer's yeast extracts are used in soups, meat products, gravies, snacks, crackers, part of some of the culture media in cheese making. It is used in flavors and also vitamins.
Baker's yeast extracts are used in non flavoring foods.
The Islamic Scholars have different opinions regarding the brewer's yeast extracts. Some considered it Halal, some say, it is Mukrooh and some advise not to consume foods containing brewer's yeast extract. Our Islamic scholar considered it Halal if the alcohol penetrated inside the yeast cell and changed to new thing. There is no literature available to indicate that alcohol inside yeast react and changed to a new thing. This is the reason we do not consider yeast extract from beer making as a Halal ingredient.
Please consult your Sheik or Imam on this topic.
Vinegar

Vinegar has been known for centuries. It is simply a dilute solution of water and acetic acid that contains coloring and flavoring agents in very small quantities from source of raw material. A typical distilled vinegar contains 95% of water and rest is acetic acid , minor constituents.
It is made by two successive microbial processes,
* first being an alcoholic fermentation effected by yeasts and the
* second an oxidation of alcohol by Acetobacter, a genus of aerobic bacteria.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulation states that the unmodified name vinegar apply only to the product derived from apples and that this product contain not less than 4 g of acetic acid in 100 ml of vinegar.
Vinegar also contains small quantities of ash, sugars, phosphoric acid, alcohol, and glycerol.
Vinegar is made by two process;
1:The packed generator; and
2:Submerged fermentation system.

Air is used in both process.
Fermentation :
The fermentation of sugar into alcohol (ethanol) and which comprises the first step in manufacturing of vinegar using the yeast Saccharomyces sp, which proceeds as follow: C6H12O6 -------> 2C2H5OH + 2CO2 (sugar source) (Ethyl Alcohol) (Carbon Dioxide)The second fermentation step requires the microorganism acetobacter (Bacterium aceti) and oxygen as indicated below:
Gelatin: is a derived water soluble protein made by controlled hydrolytic conversion of collagen, the protein constituent of white fibrous connective tissue from animals.

Gelatin is obtained from one of the following:
 Beef bones and calf skin (Gelatin type B) or

ITS REMAINING PART WILL BE IN SECOND ARTICLE

Sharia law cannot change our life's untill unless

Before I say why we cannot implement SHARIA LAW in our life's I would like to highlight the benifits of SHARIA LAW and the drawbacks our current system.
1: Non-Muslims live inside the Islamic State? One of the most misunderstood matters is the ruling on non-muslims inside an Islamic state. It is believed that the state would only allow a pure Muslims population, however this is incorrect and commonly used by non-muslims to attack the Shari'ah. Non-Muslims can choose to live in the state if they pay the 'Jiziyaa' (the closes translation for this word is 'tax'). Once they do so, they are known as the "dhimmi", and their life and honour immediately has sanctity and are protected by the state. The Khaleefah (Caliph) will go to great lengths to protect the dhimmi. An example, if they (the dhimmi) are being harassed by another tribe, the Islamic state will judge the situation and fight (even physically with the Muslim armies) to defend them.
2: The Non-Muslim citizen (Dhimmi) - including Muslims - get rights to free food, clothing and shelter provided by the state by default. The benefits offered to the dhimmi are clear. By default they are entitled to free housing, food, gas and clothing without any ambiguity.
Our Prophet (S.A.W.W) said "The son of Adam has no better right than that he would have a house wherein he may live and a piece of cloth whereby he may hide his nakedness and a piece of bread and some water."[Tirmidhi]
Alterneativly whats happening in Pakistan? Is PML-N providing these facilities to PUNJAB? or PPPP Providing them to Baluchistan and Sindh?? And ANP huh!! dont even wanna mention that party in this noble discussion.....
3: Fee's such as council tax, road tax etc. will be abolished.
The Islamic state will abolish all fiscal fees and rates, water and sewage rates, school fees, import and export licences and fees, council rates, ground rent, road tax and fiscal stamps. According to shari‘ah, these services are the duty of the state; the state in Islam is a guardian and not a collection of fees and rates. One of its main functions is to secure the essential needs of all its subjects and to enable each individual to acquire his luxuries according to his ability. Means EQUALITY, not like NOW poor people's children sit on the "TAT" in schools and rich people send theiur kids to Expensive schools not mention their Fee are higher than the monthly income of average Pakistani.
4: The 'Jiziyaa' (Non-muslim tax) is lower than the 'Zakat' (Muslim tax).
The Jizyaa, a tax for non-muslim citizens of the state, is lower than the Muslim tax - Zakat (Obligatory upon all muslims). Muslims, must also pay the Zakat, both the Jiziyaa and Zakat go to the Islamic treasury and will be utilized on areas where the Islamic authority sees fit. This s the best part of all of those people who do "PROPEGANDAS" that in Muslim state Non-Muslims are treated badly. They would be paying less "TAX"(JIZIYAA)
5: Earth's resources cannot be privatised and sold at extortionate prices.
Natural resources - like oil, coal and gas - will not be sold at ridiculous prices to the population. Today we see the true face of dollar guzzling greedy cooperates as they continue to sell energy at unaffordable prices. The common people are powerless as energy prices rise month on month, while energy companies profits increase so do their pockets. The gov: continues to squeeze public spending even more. No matter which party or who is the ruler you will never find justice in man made law since these same problems are riddled in every country where Shari'ah is absent. Even we are struggling here in Australia coz of high Utility bills...
6: Poverty will be eradicated.
When Islam was implemented on state level in parts of the African continent (Ethiopia and Sudan), it slowly extinguished poverty. People had the basics of food, clothing and shelter provided to them by the Islamic state, and they had the opportunity to prosper as human beings. Since the removal of Islam from those lands we witness corruption, genocide and the alleviation of poverty once again. Charity is embedded within Islam and cannot be removed. The corruption returns and sometimes in other forms such as prostitution, violence and drugs. To solve these problems, you will need to remove the root issue / problem which has plagued poor areas for decades, the cure will only come with the removal of all man made laws and systems such as democracy, then the implementation of the Shari'ah.
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) If poverty was a man, I would kill him." [Narrated by Umar Ibn Al-Khataab.]
7: Society ills (such as gambling, prostitution, drugs and paedophilia etc) will be extinguished.Islam prohibits diseases pushed under the declaration of ‘freedom' such as pornography, paedophilia, bestiality, gambling, drugs and alcohol which seek to exploit and enslave people to their instincts and desires resulting in rising crime rates. The way of life in Islam ensures the fulfilment of everyone's right to basic food which will prevent people from resorting to illicit acts.As a result of freedom and democracy we have seen the most absurd laws. To mention one or two, in the state of Missouri bestiality (the marriage between humans and animals) is allowed and in America paedophiles have formed an organization called NAMBLA (North American Men And Boys Lovers Association) allowing paedophiles to perform horrendous acts with children. Similarly, under 'freedom' a group of people have begun sacrifices and mutilation for the sake of Satan, this even involves the kidnapping of innocent life to fulfil these satanic rituals. Not to forget couple of days ago Newyork passed bill of Gays , Lesbians Marriages.. I wanna tell you I have read some blogs from Pakistani writers and Muslims demanding for Gays rights.. Dont wanna mention names here though........
8: Education is free to ALL citizens
The State would ensure the provision of free education to every male and female at both primary and secondary levels, the state would also endeavour to provide free education to everyone at university level. This is so because providing every single citizen of the state with the education he or she needs in all walks of life is an essential necessity, therefore it is the Stateis duty to provide it.The Khilafah state would ensure provision of free education to every male and female (Muslim and non-Muslim) at both primary and secondary levels and would endeavour to provide free education to everyone at university level. Education at higher levels would be encouraged and the state would help in funding those who wish to do so as much as possible.
9: The punishment system (Judicial system) in Islam is superior than any man made system.
The Islamic Judicial system is far better to any system man has ever devised in history. The strictness concerning evidence has meant that only around 200 people ever had their hands cut in 1300 years of Islamic Rule and the incidences of theft were very low. The Islamic system allows a person aggrieved of a crime the right to forgive the accused or to demand compensation for certain crimes. A U.S. Justice Department report released on November 30 2006 showed that a record 7 million people -- or one in every 32 American adults -- were behind bars, on probation or on parole at the end of last year. Of the total, 2.2 million were in prison or jail.
Result of Democracy (US Incarceration statistics)Furthermore, with 3,256 on death row (In the USA alone) democracy has show it does practice and implement the death penalty. For Countries with Highest CRIME RATES Click http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-highest-reported-crime-rates.html on this link......
10: Allah's human rights VS Man-made human rights.
If we compare the so-called ‘human rights' which are enshrined within the Declaration of Human Rights and the rights by our creator Allah (SWT) through his final message to humanity i.e. Al-Islam, we will find that there are significant differences between the two. These are apart from the fact that those given by God are not subject to change due to whim or desire and that they formed the basis of a civilization which eradicated common problems nowadays such as racism and poverty for over 1300 years under the authority of the Islamic State. This State was ironically destroyed at the hands of the western imperialistic powers such as France and Britain on the 3rd of March 1924.Islam protects the belief, life, honour, mind and wealth of all citizens as well as ensuring that each individuals needs in terms of food, clothing and shelter are provided for not as a matter of charity but as a matter of divine obligation upon the Islamic State. Countries such as Ethiopia and Sudan flourished in the time of their governance under the divine law enacted by the Islamic State to the extent that they were self sufficient in resources such as food and were even able to provide relief to other nations. !!
I am sorry guys this is getting longer but I just couldnt stop myself clearing all these points, there are way too many other points which we can discuss but I am not here to argue with you guys thats I am riht or wrong I just clearifies what Allah has sent and what we are following. However, my point is clear o one of us would have done Adultry if we knew we will get stonned to death, we never would have stoled if we were sure that we will have our hands choppedoff. We would never have lied or killed anyone if we knew our heads would be cutoff from our body.So called Human Rights organisations makes big issue if some girl is rapped, on the other hand they make even bigger issue if a rappist is stonned?? Big "HYPOCRISY" let few of them get stonned to finish up this sin from roots isnt it??
Western media call us corrupt whereas they call us cruel if we chop off theif hands, let us cut off some hands to stop these robbers and let it be started from our Polititions isnt it??
Moreover, most of the murders in the world happens because of women or money so if stealing and adultry stops then?????
In a 2007 University of Maryland poll , more than 71 percent of the populations in Egypt, Morocco, Pakistan, and Indonesia agreed with requiring "strict application of [sharia] law in every Islamic country.Let me take you to Taliban regime in Afghanistan back in 1990's.
NO CRIME, NO DRUGS, NO DEAD BODIES being found daily, NO TARGET KILLINGS and strikes better than a busy market with LOADS of crime, killings, target killing, police ghunda gardy, missing persons, mobile snatching, drugs, strikes etc etc? I agree there were no Parties, Tv , Drinks, Fahashi etc etc.. but there was Peace. Before Taliban regime Afghanistan was the top supplier of drugs to the whole world bt within One year it was cleaned off from any kind of drugs, I AM NOT BACKING TALIBAN HATE THESE SO CALLED TALIBAN they ruined reall Image of ISLAM.EVEN SHARIA LAW CANNOT CHANGE OUR LIFE's UNTILL UNLESS WE START DOING THE BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF OUR DEEN, LIKE HOW MANY OF US OFFER NAMAZ 5 TIMES A DAY??
NO DOUBT ISLAM IS PEACE LETS TAKE THE 1st STEP TOWARD PEACE AND SUCCESS START OFFERING NAMAZ 5 Times A DAY INSHALLAH!!!!! Then we can think about other things.
